What is Everence?
Everence was initially created as Mennonite Mutual Aid in 1945 as a financial assistance organization for members of the Mennonite Church. The association provided loans initially but quickly expanded into insurance as well. Initial products included burial and hospital aid policies as well as auto insurance, a product they dropped from the lineup in 1998. In 1966 MMAA, a fraternal benefit society offering personal insurance products was created.
The 2009 merging of a group of Mennonite credit unions into Mennonite Financial was followed a year later by another merger between Mennonite Financial and MMAA. The resulting company was named Everence.
Although membership was initially only open to members of the Mennonite Church, the company expanded over the years to open its doors to a variety of similar faiths. The company website offers a list of the denominations whose members can apply for Everance membership.
Like other fraternal societies, Everence offers a range of benefits to members, which include scholarships and financial assistance. Everence offers a list of financial services and insurance products to members. Medicare Supplement insurance is among the products they offer; it is available in 20 states. Part D plans are also available.

What Everence Medicare Products are Offered?
Everence offers its Medicare products in 20 states; for the purpose of this review, we looked at the products available in California, where we usually compare rates.
Is a Everence Medicare Supplement Offered?
In California, Everence offers four of the eleven possible letter-coded standard Medicare Supplement plans. The listed plans are A, F, G, and N. While this is a fairly small selection, it represents the most popular of the plans and those we see from a large number of companies, although many choose to have additional options.
Plan A is the base plan that all Medicare Supplement insurance providers are required to offer. It pays all of the Medicare Part A and B coinsurance amounts. It also covers the first three pints of blood each year, which are not paid for by Medicare.
The most available coverage is with Plan F, which pays for all of the out-of-pocket costs associated with Medicare. This plan is usually the most expensive, so there is a high deductible version but Everence does not appear to offer it.
Plan F is not available to those that were first eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020 due to changes in the law.
The remaining two plans fall in between in terms of coverage, with Plan N offering the option of lower rates in return for paying a copay on some services and coinsurance coverage that is not at 100%.
Is Everence Medicare Part D Available?
Everence offers Part D coverage in some areas but does not specify where. There is also no breakdown of plan benefits, although there is a chart demonstrating the 2019 Part D benefit standard design.
This chart shows what Medicare pays and what the insured would be responsible for without Part D coverage – that seems to be to demonstrate what a Part D plan would pay, but it is not made entirely clear.

Are Everence Medicare Rates Competitive?
We ran a rate quote for a 65-year-old woman in California through Everence’s straightforward quoting system.
Plan A came back at $193.27, and Plan F at $224.12, and Plan G at $209.19. The least expensive option is Plan N at $155.18.
Overall, Everence’s rates are high. Their price for Plan A is in the vicinity of what we usually see for Plan F, which offers far more coverage. When looking at rates, Everence Medicare Supplement Plan G is a better value, although still more expensive than we have seen from other companies.
We were not able to obtain rate quotes for Part D coverage.
How Everence Medicare Manages Claims
Ease of Filing a Claim
Everence Medicare does not provide specific information about their claims filing process on their website. Typically, Medicare claims are handled between healthcare providers and insurance companies, and members may not need to be directly involved in the process. For specific details on how to file a claim with Everence Medicare, members can contact their customer service.
Average Claim Processing Time
Unfortunately, Everence Medicare does not offer information about the average claim processing time on their website. The processing time for Medicare claims can vary depending on the nature of the claim and other factors. Members seeking information on claim processing times should contact Everence Medicare directly for assistance.
Customer Feedback on Claim Resolutions and Payouts
While there is limited information available on customer feedback regarding claim resolutions and payouts for Everence Medicare, it’s worth noting that the company has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and there have been no complaints reported in the past three years.
However, due to Everence’s association with a religious organization, customer feedback and complaints may be handled differently, and online reviews may be scarce.

Everence Medicare does not provide specific details about a dedicated mobile app for managing insurance-related tasks. Members interested in mobile app features and functionality should inquire directly with Everence Medicare to see if they offer any app-based services.

Are Everence Medicare Ratings and Consumer Reviews Positive?
Everence has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and there have been no complaints in the past three years.
We found very little to speak of in terms of reviews and complaints regarding Everence, which is not surprising. They are a smaller insurance company and they are also associated with a religious organization; members of such associations often handle complaints differently and do not turn to internet reviews to voice concerns.
Overall, however, no complaints is a good thing, and Everence has a solid reputation.
Everence Medicare: What’s the Bottom Line?
Everence products are expensive, but they may still appeal to those who do not mind paying extra to work with a company whose values match their own. There is nothing of concern in terms of Everence’s values and reputation, and their policies do come with additional member benefits, adding to the value for those of compatible faiths.
There may be affordable Everence Medicare insurance available to you, but shopping around to find the best values is always smart. Compare Medicare quotes today. Just enter your ZIP code and we’ll do the rest.
